Though seemingly inefficient at a glance , chopsticks can be highly efficient depending on what you need them for.
They are very useful when you take solid ingredients or tiny fried bean.
Unlike China , Japan and other East Asian countries using chopsticks at table , korea puts as much emphasis on the spoon as the chopsticks. In China and Japan they also use a spoon while eating , but it is usually supplementary to the chopsticks. To the contrary , koreans use a spoon to eat rice , soup and stew, and chopsticks for rather dry side dishes. So on the korean table , the spoon and chopsticks called 수저 , always go together.
Chopsticks are widely used in China , Japan and other East Asian countries, but to them , spoons are just a supplement. Only koreans use a spoon as a primary tool at table.
